چکیده

In this paper, we propose SeamlessDesign, a novel collaborative workspace for rapid creation of reactive 3-D objects. SeamlessDesign has two significant characteristics in terms of seamless. First, SeamlessDesign supports a wide range of designing processes seamlessly. Users of SeamlessDesign can design from rough drafts to highly detailed 3-D objects in a unified and intuitive manner, including not only their geometric appearances but also their behavioral design. Second, SeamlessDesign utilizes both virtual and augmented setups seamlessly for supporting two-user faceto-face collaboration. In a see-through mode, using seethrough head mounted displays, users of SeamlessDesign see their partners as they are, and in a blind mode, the real scene gets invisible and they see realistic avatars in the case of navigation or scaling of the workspaces. Owing to these characteristics, users of SeamlessDesign can create complicated, reactive 3-D objects in a short time.

SeamlessDesign for 3 D Object

O ur main goal is to develop a collab-orative design tool for rapidly creating rough 3D objects. To realize this goal, we developed SeamlessDesign by integrating and improving a number of our already developed techniques. Generally speaking, a 3D-object design process consists of a few subprocesses ranging from making rough drafts to fixing details. In the earliest stage, designers often collab...

A Framework for Using Interactive Workspaces for Effective Collaboration

Recent trends in collaboration within the Architecture, Engineering, and Construction (AEC) Industry have increased the emphasis on integrated project delivery, the use of intelligent models for information sharing, and the use of electronic tools for virtual teaming. While the value of these tools and methods is growing, the impact of the workspace and physical interaction of the team is often...

Developing a Generic Augmented-Reality Interface

the physical environment. The system facilitates seamless two-handed, three-dimensional interaction with both virtual and physical objects, without requiring any special-purpose input devices. Unlike some popular AR interfaces that constrain virtual objects to a 2D tabletop surface, Tiles allows full 3D spatial interaction with virtual objects anywhere in the physical workspace. A tangible inte...

Collaborative immersive workspace through a shared augmented environment

We focus on a shared augmented environment (SAE) as an almost ideal face-to-face collaborative virtual workspace. In an SAE, multiple users can observe both a virtual world and real partners through optical see-through head mounted displays (STHMDs). This paper describes two experiments for verifying the effectiveness of an SAE compared with a conventional shared virtual environment (SVE) and e...

Collaborative Work with Volumetric Data Using Augmented Reality Videoconferencing

The Augmented Reality Videoconferencing System is a novel remote collaboration tool combining a desktop-based AR system and a videoconferencing module. The novelty of our system is the combination of these tools i.e. superimposing AR applications on live video background displaying the conference parties’ real environment, thus merging the advantages of videoconferencing (natural face-to-face c...
